Originating in the 70s, the Skaneateles Boat Show for antique and vintage boats has continued to grow in popularity and participation. True to tradition, the event will be held for the 21st consecutive year in Skaneateles, in Clift Park this July, from the 24th – 26th. On the north shore of the lake, its location is convenient for spectators and participants alike near the town center’s shops and restaurants.
Exhibitors of the show have reached over ninety in recent years, coming from all parts of the US and Canada. With a varied layout, half the exhibited boats assigned to individual slips in the water while the other half, about 45-50 boats, are displayed on land throughout the weekend.
Hosted by the Antique and Classic Boat Society (ACBS), several services are provided for free for exhibitors such as:
- launching
- hauling
- valet parking for trailers
With an array of onlookers and passerbyers enjoying the show as well as the summer weather, there are activities for everyone to enjoy. Some noteworthy activities for groups of friends or families:
- In-Water Demonstrations by the Syracuse Model Boat Club
- Boat Parade on Saturday afternoon
- Raffle Baskets
- Children’s Games
- Tours of the town
- Live Music, and more!
For anyone who is in the Central New York area on what promises to be a wonderfully pleasant July weekend on the water, please be sure to swing by. It will be quite a treat to go through the maritime decades together!
