Great Memorial Day Destinations for Boaters


Memorial Day is a holiday boat owners love. If you are unsure of where your holiday destination will be, here are some of the hot spots where you can park your vessel:

In the Midwest: Seneca
The deepest of the Finger Lakes, it’s the best known of the five for its recreational sailing. Home to a number of wineries in the area due to its macroclimate there is so much to experience on and off your boat.

In South Carolina: Charleston
Recently praised for its “19,000 feet of linear dock space covering 40 acres of water” in Askmen.com, Charleston remains one of the top destinations for avid boaters. The city and its boating community is known to be as one of the friendliest, most hospitable and unique in culture. With a variety of performing arts (even on the dock) and local seafood to offer guests, this is a must.

In California: Catalina Island
An alternative to the well known and luxurious Marina del Rey, is Catalina island, a rocky island just a few miles off of Los Angeles. Originally settled by Native Americans, this destination holds a traditional, casual air about it and is the perfect for anyone seeking to relax. Scuba diving and snorkeling are popular due to the clear waters, reefs, and get this–shipwrecks in the area.

In Florida: Bimini
Bimini, a district of the Bahamas, is just 50 miles off the coast of Miami and 137 miles from Nassau. Made up of several islands this destination is best known for its clear blue waters and pristine beaches. In addition to all its known for, Bimini is home to nature trails, a pond known for its healing properties, boating community, fishing, and anything else you can think of on the open water.
